Lets Try Some Wire Craft

I got into wire craft a little while back. I saw some pictures of wire trees on the internet, and I got inspired. I really wanted to make something like that. Plus, it was another skill I could use to create little things I can give away to people.

So I tried my hand at making a wire tree. It's not the prettiest thing, but it sits atop my dashboard enjoying all of my adventures with me.

Then I had a moment of inspiration, when I realized I had a great idea for a dragon wing. Then as you'd imagine, I finished it, and created a whole dragon.

I made a few more trees for some people, I started to make them bigger and bigger because I though bigger was better.

But I realized bigger requires significantly more time, and copper wire to make it actually look good, and full. So naturally I made the tree small, and intentionally sparse.... I also tried using multiple colors, and wrapping it with 26 gauge wire to give it an even look.

For all of these I used the basic copper wire spools you can buy at craft stores, or even Wal-Mart. 22/24 gauge. 26 gauge and above is really small and I found it hard to work with. But it is good for wrapping the trees if you like that look.

My mom even "commissioned" one. It was the last tree I made, and is probably my favorite.
